What is the PA1A Form?

Questions were easy to read – specified what information was required. Showed what forms needed to be completed re inheritance tax and how to calculate it etc. Am dealing with a simple estate but was worth the cost for peace of mind – especially when I’ve read people pay solicitors thousands of pounds for the same service

Fantastic programme and support. I spoke to Adam a few times and he was extremely helpful. Applying for probate can be challenging despite having reasonable knowledge of the process. I did the probate for my late mother and once I had the codes from HMRC got the probate within 10 days. Best to do the probate process online rather than sending the paper forms. All you have to submit to the probate office is the original will. I would recommend this company highly as all the solicitors would do is to supply them with the relevant paperwork and charge a large sum for doing what I did in 2 hours.

I knew no IHT was due but with my mother’s nil residential band bit it meant I had to fill in IHT400, then it became various other IHT forms and I lost the will to live, as many of the questions aren’t in simple English. I had quotes from 3-8k just to fill in forms (One bank account, one shared house & one bond). Found the youcandoprobate website – phoned them up & had chat – no sales pressure. After a few days and looking at the forms again & getting confused, I signed up. Took 3 hours to fill in forms, got slightly lost at one point & requested a call back. Lovely chap found the problem (my input numbers in wrong box) corrected them and then stayed on phone while it re-calculated to make sense. Printed all forms off and have just received my code from HMRC. £495 well spent and peace of mind that all forms were correct. One thinks “ IHT I can manage that”, then IHT435 & 436 and then another one with pensions etc etc. I think I ended up sending about 6 different IHT forms in and I know if I had ploughed on myself I would not have sent all the correct forms in.

Mine wasn’t a straight forward case. Following a very friendly informative chat with Tom, I felt confident to try and complete the process for myself. I had to ring and ask for a call back a couple of times, which they did very promptly. Luckily for me, I spoke to Tom on both occasions. He talked me through my issues, and helped me to complete the form the same day. I will be posting my documents tomorrow, and will hopefully do an update once I have received my grant of probate. I would highly recommend YouCanDoProbate. I had originally been quoted thousands by the Co-op legal team. It was an extortionate amount, and I thought “Is it really that difficult?” After Googling I came across YouCanDoProbate and read the reviews.
