The only other
fee you will pay.

Complete transparency

The only additional costs are official government fees.

Beyond the £499 platform fee, the only other costs are official government fees for applying paid directly to HMCTS. Not to us. This fee is payable regardless of which route you take.
Probate Registry fee
£526 for estates over £5,000. Paid by cheque or postal order, sent with your completed forms directly to HMCTS. No fee for estates of £5,000 or under. This fee is the same whether you use a solicitor, a bank or YouCanDoProbate.
Official copies of the Grant
£2 per copy. Most estates require between three and eight copies to send to banks, institutions and other parties. These are ordered when you submit your application. Don't worry, the platform will take you through it!

Our pricing model

The cost of applying for probate should not depend on how much someone owned.

We chose a fixed price because a percentage of the estate is not a fair reflection of the work involved. Whether an estate is worth £100,000 or £1,000,000, the probate process is the same. The forms are the same. The calculations are the same. The work is the same.
£499 is the same for everyone. Not because we have cut corners, but because we built a platform that does the work efficiently and accurately for every estate within scope. ICAEW accredited. Rated 4.9 Excellent on Trustpilot. One fair price.

What you would
pay elsewhere.

Prices in comparison

The same amount of work. A very different price.

In every case you still gather all the estate information yourself. And in every case the £526 Probate Registry fee applies on top. The technical work is all that differs. Here is what that technical work costs elsewhere.
High-street solicitors
£1,500 to £10,000+ for a standard estate. Usually excluding VAT, disbursements and the Probate Registry fee. Hourly rates apply if anything takes longer than originally quoted.
Estates involving inheritance tax
£5,000 to £30,000+ where inheritance tax forms are required. Costs rise significantly and the Probate Registry fee applies on top of everything else.
Banks and percentage-based fees
1% to 5% of the estate value. On a £300,000 estate that is £3,000 to £15,000 before any extras. The size of the estate has no bearing on the amount of work involved.
